Our Story

Gienjo Emal (pronounced: Gee-en-jo Em-Al) didn’t start out the way it is today.

We first launched in 2015 as Gienjo Handmade Jewelry and Accessories — a small creative venture inspired by a love of making meaningful things. At the time, we were new parents, unaware that in the years ahead, we’d come to understand our family — and ourselves — as part of the neurodivergent community.

As time passed, and diagnoses came — first our kids, then our niece and nephew — our understanding of neurodivergence deepened. As AuDHD parents raising AuDHD children, that clarity not only shaped our personal lives, but also transformed our purpose as entrepreneurs.

That’s when we added “Emal” to our name — a tribute to the first two letters of our three children, niece, and nephew — and began reshaping our shop into something more intentional.

We created Gienjo Emal to be a space for the autistic and ADHD community — one rooted in lived experience. We know how overwhelming and isolating the world can feel when it's not built with neurodivergence in mind. That’s why we carefully curate products that soothe, support, and celebrate the different ways we all experience life.

Gienjo Emal is more than a store. It's a reflection of our journey, and a place where families like ours — and yours — can feel seen, supported, and at home.
